Silhouette Glass was either sold as gifts or advertising promotions. The picture was hand painted or screen printed on the backside of a flat piece of glass or convex. The pictures are usually done in black or a woman in a crinoline dress and a man in a top hat. Behind them the back drop would be done in gold/silver foil or sometimes with a colored card or outdoor scene. Typical Silhouette Glass like the one shown below is from the 1930’s or 40’s.
